Google Adsense is a program to make money on Your web site. Google Adsense will display contextual text and/or graphics ads on Your site. You will take money for every click on this ad.

Google Adsense is connected with other program from Google - Adwords. Adwords is designed for advertisers. Advertiser commisses Google with displaying ads. He declares how much money he can pay for every click. You, as a web site owner, recieve part of this money. Google algorithm choose ads for Your site according to words defined by Advertiser.
Value of every click depend on word popularity. That is because Google choosing algorithm depends on amount declared by advertiser for one click. If advertiser want to display his ads on Your site he must declare higher amount for one click. If there is more advertiser for a word they must pay higher amount.
